..... whilst fetching a Costa!!

I was only there 5 mins, but the release fee was £125.

I argued, stamped my feet, threatened to bolt crop the clamp off the wheel ( for which they told me i would be arrested ), i have been fuming all day.

The clamper showed me his "licence", & took my £125.

Can this be right, would i have had any recourse if i had cut off the lock??

Is £125 a legally allowable fine for this??

The sign, albeit small, did say "no parking, clampers in operation, release fee £125".

Not that unlucky. Some people pay a lot more than that.

I was in the middle of West Bridgford.

Couldnt believe it, never happened before.

My copper neighbour, reckons that a recent court case has proved that it is not illegal to bolt crop the lock off the clamp, you just owe them a new lock.

Kinda wish i had tried it really scratchchin

Well its your own bloody fault then. How hard is it not to park in an area where you are told

a) not to park and
b) what the consequences are if you do park.

And all for a coffee??

Ae you the sort of person who lives near an airport then complains about the noise?
Ditto a school?

Of the sort of person who doesnt read the instructions when buying some kitchen knives, cuts yourself then asks who you can sue... rolleyes

It was specific, but fairly small & high up on a big wall. You wouldnt notice it unless you were looking for it.

Thing is, the operation is new in that location, lots of people have been used to parking there for a long time! Me included!!!

It's annoying but you took a risk by parking there, it bit you in the arse & now you're pissed off but for once it sounds like the clampers have done it by the book so you've got nobody to blame but yourself

Keep a clamp in the boot. Clamp them while they are releasing you, and charge them £150....

You are 100% entitled to remove the clamp providing you don't damage it.

Next time, jack the wheel up, let all the air out, take the wheel off and roll the wheel out of the clamp.

Put the wheel back and pump it up then drive off waving and blowing kisses.

I've done this many times.

Boy - does it piss them off.

Well worth the effort.

Cops very uninterested I can tell you.
