Nominating foreigners for Gatso offences.

Just a hypothetical question, if I recieve a notification that a vehicle that I am the registered keeper for has trifggered a gatso camera, and then sey it was Mr Bloggs from Ireland, would it all go away or would they want a signed declaration from Mr Bloggs?

I'd have thought it was up to them to chase him up. You've done what required.

Might want to make sure your insurance covers any driver though.

You could, but if they push it, it's up to you to prove it (permitting).
However, Newbury v Davis says that an owner cannot be guilty of permitting where he has lent his vehicle on the express condition that the driver provide his own suitable insurance. I have not seen the judgement, so I don't know how watertight it is.

Since when have they checked Insurance and Test certificates under the Conditional offer proceedure?.

There must have been dozens on uninsured drivers who have coughed up the 60 and walked away with a document offence.

They don't when you give them the £60. If, however, as in the OP, you name someone at a foreign address, the response varies from force to force. Essex, e.g., will certainly threaten you with, and indeed caution you for, permitting; whether they follow through, I have no idea.

I get a NiP and fill it out correctly stating the driver was Mr A Davies of 54 Acacia Ave., Sydney, Australia. I put a polite little note in with it saying he showed me his Motor Trade Policy saying he could drive any car. What happens next?
