old points off, new points on, what is the total?

hi peeps, benefit of your endless wisdom as always,

just wanted to double check, if you had 6 points on your licence, but 3 were 4 years old, and the other 3 were just over 3 years old, gof forbid, then 6 more new points were to go on, does it still only count as 6, although the old ones would still be on the licence for the 4 years.

correct..

Speeding endorsments etc over 3 years old are "spent" so-to-speak.

That is correct.....as Matt has quite rightly pointed out.

However you cannot have them taken off the license until 4 years and the insurance companies will want to know about them until 5 years

Some are now asking for 10 years history.. !
