camera that pops out of the back of a cop bike!

I drive to work along Northamptons A508 to Milton Keynes, t go thru a 30mph zone (Grafton Regis) and occasionally there are scamera vans on one side of the road or the other.
Today though, there was a police motorbike parked there - Out of the top pannier a camera was flipped out and pointing at the traffic! Anyone else seen these?? Are the speed cams? Needless to say, the copper looked suitably bored
I presume with luggage space on a bike at a premium, they have probably left out some useless bits of kit.... Like a first aid kit

Yes, that’s a bike mounted scamera. Northants have one bike equipped like this, allegedly for use in situations where it would be dangerous to park a scamera van (according to a press release I read). Realistically I expect they use it in situations where a scamera van would be too easy to spot and they wouldn’t make enough money. Obviously it’s a very sensible use of police resources to put a trained motorcycle policeman by the side of the road all day catching those heinous speeders.
