Do Scamera vans need to be marked???

Passed what appeared to be a scamera on the A38 yesterday. White high top van, no markings or signs, but with the extra windows at the top of the back doors.

I was actually driving at the speed limit so I don't have any worries :smug: but was wondering what the law says about marking these abominations?

Radar seeking rockets are the go.......

I was toying with building a white noise radar emitter for these puppies as detectors don't really get "Speed Guns". Jam them up. If everyone had a white noise jammer, the whole shebang would grind to a halt. One of the problems being the power of the unit!!! You might jam up air traffic controls radar. Or even military stuff.

The stumbling point was the power source!!!! I could only find the electronic knowhow and gubbins for a BIG plant. This would have excited the military something chronic!!!!

Isn't that a ANPR van? Tax disk checker? Usually a few traffic police in the area to stop as required.

That's an ANPR van, checking tax discs & scumbag owned vehicles without insurance. These use an infrared imaging system.

Most Scameras use laser which is completely not related to Radar unless it's a mobile Gatso.

To answer the original question - No, they are not obliged to be "marked up." Whether it is a Safety Camera van, (Speed camera van) or a ANPR van. Most are marked in some way. The speed camera vans ususally emblazoned with the relevant safety camera partnership logo. After all, traffic cars don't have to be marked, do they?

Actually sounds like the "Project Laser" Van. Checks Number plates. I think one of its uses is to stop Scallys (No Insurance, banned etc), travelling into another forces area where they have no knowledge of them.
