Has anyone ever thought why the government is putting up more cameras and banning more people.

1) to get more revenue for the government and police forces

2) Reduce accidents at blackspots

3) get as many people off the road by banning them, and forcing them off the road onto the already failing public transport.

4) to unofficially reduce the speed on the m25 to 40mph (using Variable spped limit signs) to reduce the flow of traffic into london. So that people get Pi55ed off with the traffic jams and slow movement that they give public transport a go.

I was just thinking while stuck in traffic on the M1 after i picked up a cortersy car (TVR Cerbera) after an argument with a dealer regarding the time it is taken for mine to be delivered back to me after an engine rebuild Garage estimate (May 2002). Icant live without it for that long.

has anyone else got any views on this or was i thinking of complete nonsense??

I think it's genuine but misguided. They believe that by slowing everyone down to the posted limits that the road death toll would be reduced by the 40%(?) or whatever the target was over ten years.

I would have agreed with that, but for the following:

1. They don't put plod with guns outside schools during school pick up/drop off times (as I've said many times before, for three weeks running they did, but each time it was a Sunday.....)

2. There is no first warning and then a fine if you don't curtail your speed

3. Cameras do not allow for idiot driving. More police on the streets (well, on the wheels)would help ensure people drive safer, and are less likely to experience road rage. However we know that this costs, and speeding fines pay out.....

4. The whole idea that Speed alone kills is exceedingly flawed, when I see people on the mobile, or doing their make up, and even Reading ?!?!?!

The driving test is the main problem , Its too easy that mureen or what ever her name was off driving school on the bbc passed her test in the end but its not hard to see that see is a liability on the road she has no idea , the test should be the same as a bike with cc and age limitations and if you dont pass your test on the 3rd or 4th attempt you should not be allowed a license .
