Purple speed cameras?

Where I live (near) Newcastle, on the A69 to Hexham, there are what appear to be purple cameras every few miles down the road. Has anyone seen them, I wondered if they are maybe digital speed cameras, yet, I was not aware of any digital cameras where I live. There are also gatsos on this road, one of which is in a sensible place, except for the fact its totally obscured by a sign. I've also seen them on bridges on the A1 Western Bypass, but I speed all the time down there, and havent heard anything.

Could you mean the dark blue TrafficMaster cameras? They monitor traffic flow, but rumours say that MI5 or some such conspiracy theory organisation use the cameras to track citizen's movements around the country.

Yea, that could be them, I'm trying to find a picture.

EDIT: Cant find a picture, but the description of them almost certainly suggests to me that is exactly what they are. Cheers for clearing that up!

Yea, the new style ones on that page are the exact devices I have seen on the A69. Talk about big brother!
