A member of my family has recieved a letter from a company called Roxborough debt collectors who according to some web site are scammers and get very threatening, saying they owe money for a parking fine in an NCP car park. They had 1 letter stating they owed money from NCP saying they had not responded to the previous requests which hadn't been recieved. They didn't have a notification put on the car at the time and got the letters 2 months afer the alledged offence.

I have advised them to ignore the letter. Thoughts?

Ignore, ignore, ignore.

Roxborough are well known for their scare tactics. Lemme guess, their letter says something about them loosing their home, becoming drug addicts and selling their first born son for drug money to fuel their habbit, all because they were sued?

Ignore it, don't reply and definately don't say who was driving the car. In summary, bin, bin, bin. Bin any other letters they send as well.

Yep ignore everything, and file it in the bin, they'll probally get another couple of letters from the debt collectors followed by letters from a solicitor next telling you if you don't pay the might take you to court, bin those too

I don't know how wholly relevant it is,
but this might be worth having a look at. It deals with Private parking tickets:

NCP never go to court. They'd lose and if word got out, you can just imagine the implications. Here's a link to the chain of letters that they'll send (thanks to Pepipoo) http://www.violetmount.com/ncpscam.jpg

Just make sure to never reply to any of them.

Rocborough have sent me 4 letters since feb and now their solicitors have sent 3. I have ignored all, but have kept them for my records just in case.

They have no leg to stand on, to persue a claim against you, they have to prove that you entered into a contract with them to park, and that they suffered a loss as a consequence.

Ignore the letters. Its very important that you do not reply at all otherwise you give them some hope that they have the right person etc.

Pepipoo.com is very helpful on the subject.
