I have some tins of elbow grease for sale, only 90 quid per kilo!
Why is it when someone comes on here asking a sensible question they get crap answers like this?Edited by tpp_uk on Tuesday 20th July 14:12
Any form of grease would be too thick and could be spotted a mile off by a patrol car
, what you need is a thin sheen of oil, I’ve a mate in the business who can get a cracking deal on snake oil a £19.99 for 50ml.Just let me know

Have a read through my posts in this very brief thread.
I watched an episode of Road Wars where an ANPR traffic car was following a Golf, and to the police officers the rear plate on the golf was perfectly normal and readable, but on the TV screen of the car's camera system it was completely blurred out.
Long story short, the police were confused and intrigued so they pulled the guy, he said the plates were on the car when he bought it, and they proceeded to give him a ticket/fine for the plate. I believe he got 3 points as well but I'm not certain.

I think what also annoys me is people who start ranting about Snake Oil and suchlike whenever 'anti camera' plates are discussed. In the case of this example they worked, no question. The driver didn't get the result he wanted, but the plates did their job.
Also, a friend of mine has a Bentley GT (did the Gumball in it etc) and whilst at a wedding recently my mum took a load of photos of guests and his GT was in the background of some of them. Numberplate text didn't show up on any of the photos at all. It was like looking at a blank plate. He says they 'cost him a bit', but I've seen the results with my own eyes!

I've never looked into it as I've always considered mucking about with plates stupid and a massive waste of time.

They probably won't work with non-flash photography such as average speed cameras.
A couple of years ago a force was concerned about this stuff so did a test on a marked car. The pictures came back fine so they could not do the supplier for perverting the course of justice. Then some bright spark passed the advert and pictures to Trading Standards who prosecuted for misleading advertising!

The plate is readable by humans, so if they did something dangerous, they could still be reported. It's just speed cameras they mess with (although as someone has said, a human will read it). I have no issue with people "cheating" speed cameras. Everyone should do it.

AFAIK they don't work. The scamera operator simply runs a filter over them and sends out the bill...
They run them as negative prints normally and the effect is negated.Edited by mcflurry on Wednesday 21st July 12:10
Doesn't work in car as this cannot be done.
The flash back systems have also been defeated.
i drive from portsmouth to south yorkshire at least 5 times a year and recently every other week . everytime i go up there we look out for Police patrol cars during the day and at night .......none why ? becuase budgets in policing cant cope with 2 old bill sat in a nice warm car driving up and down the M1 . they are used for every day policing as towns and cities are stretched to cope with normal calls .
so every now and then they pop on to the motorway to get there daily quota of tickets to hand in to the boss to say yes ive done my bit today guv !!!
now im not saying its the general rule and im sure ive just been lucky but must be some truth in this. as for the spray stuff you put on plates anything is worth a go. and as for more than 70 on the M1 ACPO states that 10% + 2 is still laid down in the books .
I dont have super fast car just a normal daily driver but if you get done under 79 its worth mentioning the ACPO guidlines to speeding in the uk before you send your licence off !!!!

Daily quota? Seriously get a grip.
As for getting done and mentioning ACPO guidelines you'd be better off realising ACPO doesn't exist anymore and that the speed limit is what it is not a guideline.
Is it school holidays again or just retards day out?
