Circular from Idris Francis titled as this post.

Dyfed Powys 2003 deaths up by 38%
South Wales ( "successful" speed camera trial area) up 34%

North Wales up 13%

Gwent not yet available.

Figures from 16 UK areas so far reveal an overall increase in deaths of 9% from 2002.

Arrive Alive eh?

I'm sure we're all dying (pardon the pun) to hear how Dicky Brunstrom is going to explain those figures...

The ABD/Safespeed could have a field day with these.

Write to your MPs and point this out. Ask how many have to die before the focus moves from speed to quality of driving.

Write today.

We have the thing moving in the right direction - time to push

Sent to broonski....

Dear Sir,

Maybe the Chief Constable could explain the following:

Dyfed Powys 2003 deaths up by 38%
South Wales ( "successful" speed camera trial area) up 34%

North Wales up 13%

Gwent not yet available.

Figures from 16 UK areas so far reveal an overall increase in deaths of 9% from 2002

Still think your "arrive deprived" cash relegation scheme is having success at dropping deaths do you?

Regards, AP Waterstone.

Report from ITV Wales now on-line here

www.htvwales.com/walesthisweek/pages/2004/motoring.shtml

I have had the figures for N. Wales, Dyfed/Powys and S.Wales confirmed but there seems to be a difference in the Gwent figures shown here from the figure I was given by ITV Wales, which showed a drop in the Gwent fatalities following an upward blip last year.

So, at least 3 of the 4 Welsh areas have seen big rises in deaths on Brunstrom's watch. He is after all the chief of the Road Policing Business Unit.

Business Unit???????

As you can see, comparing 2004 to 1978, before cameras, the number of deaths has decreased this year...therefore are succesful

Just remember the regional (and national) increases in road deaths this year are a statistical blip, but the reduction in deaths at certain new camera sites was caused by the cameras

If it wasn't so accurate it would be laughable.
