Right,my brother recieved a NIP today, was flashed by a Truvelo about 10 days ago on the A225 Hawley Road. The camera was on his side of the road, forward facing with(as opposed to The Gatso) three white lines on the road.It flashed him when he was about 15 foot from the camera with a large bright, white flash. Is this how they are set up, to flash the front of the car? Apparently there is a thread somewhere that claims they are supposed to be infra red operated....He is about to request a viewing of the photographic evidence as he is also unsure as to who was driving at the time as both he and his wife were in the car at the time.... Any advice.....

Evidence on PH suggests that the flash is violet, not white...

Either way - ask for photo and if it's not clear it looks like it's the Hamilton defence for you (not sure who it was...)

Have spent an entire evening scouring relevant sites and can find no definate info regarding whether or not it is legal for a Truvelo scamera to forward flash with Gatso'esque brightness? This is what happened causing 'flash blindness'a very dangerous situation. All sites looked at so far seem to indicate Truvelos can be used forward facing but should be fitted with a lens filter to avoid 'flash blindness'Does anybody know for sure?Do i have grounds for action?

The truvelo's around here have two inductive loops under the tarmac in before you get to them. The white lines behind them and worthless and keep the numpties doing 25 mph for the rest of the journey. It's just to catch a few people out and make a few more £'s.

Look closely at the tarmac and you will see where the loops are underneath, usually just on one side of the road.

Why would you need grounds for action? Was it you, and not your brother?

it is legal for this device to flash forwards. If he was speeding, advise him to pay the ticket and look further ahead next time!
