I have just been watching Roadwars on Sky One.
Given the use of KSI for the support of cameras and mobiles on stretches of road and the importance of speed, there were 2 cases that I cant believe:
1. A lady having a child on her lap whilst driving let off with no penalty. If she had an accident at 31 in the 30 it would have been a seriouis injury and I assume speed would have been the key factor warranting a camera spouted by the camera partnership. Let off by Tarfpol
2. A kid who had passed his test 4 days earlier out with mates, having cannabis in the car admitted under influence. Questioned about what would be the result if he had been drinking and did he need his licence. Given a producer and let off. Again trafpol.
WHat is going on... you can breach every law, drugs, seatbelts, drinking...etc aimed at safety and you will get let off, but speeding and instant prosecution whether guilty or not or whether mitigating circumstances!!
Sorry to all trafpol here but it seems the last concern is safety but raising money, do 1 mph over the limit and you are fair game but its ok to drive drugged up or no belts etc...... GET REAL
So the message is make sure you do the limit everywhere but its ok to not wear seatbelts and drive under the influence.....who causes more accidents??

I feel that what is see on such TV programs does not reflect real life. The BiB act differently and/or the director/editor selects those elements felt to support whatever political stance his producer/station owner takes (Sky = Murdoch ... 'nuff said!).
Whatever, it does no good for the image of the BiB (especially TafPol) or for our blood pressure to see such examples of apparent idiocy. It can easily lead to all TrafPol being tarred with the same brush (and I know what I've posted in the past about "rogue" BiB) - Streaky

DUI can I hope also be applied to "pot", if not it damn well should be.... If I'd been the plod there I'dve thrown the book at him....... silverbackmike I assume the same...
Drugs and driving is as unacceptable as drink and driving, as is medicine and driving (i.e. Valium et al) IMHO.......

Sure they were trafpol - and not numpty pretzel Panda Plod?
Does erode public confidence! Ought to have been disciplined over it!
You cops need to get rid of your politically correct prat@arsers! Starting with the weird one in Wales! Is this result of "Fast Track Training?" - Pen pushing academicos with no commonsense and knowledge of the real world?
Disgraceful - know that the good guys on here will be outraged --(gone - would have GONE SPARE! Silverback Mike and Tony Rec - ditto!)

Absolutely, drink / drugs anything mind altering for that matter...completely unnaceptable.
Those things are beyond discretion.
Wildcat, completely agree, and indeed there are many junior officers who drive 'pretzel pandas' (quite like that phrase) but don't forget, a lot of officers have been and done other things, trafpol, crime unit etc etc and decide to return to district policing. It is a very rewarding part of the job. In fact the job I prefer doing. So, not every panda driver is a numpty!!
Good points by all though.

Welcome to Tony B. Liars Britain 2004!!!
say no more!

Any remember president Blair doesn't feel the need to consult and act on the wishes of the people. His stated view is that he was voted in on a free mandate to do whatever he chooses.
Not much comfort for the 65% of the public who wouldn't vote for him in a month of sundays.
