Major action in Harrogate tonight. so kept the Masser at Street legal. Had a Cop behind me for about 4 miles and kept it at about 28mph (Really!) even in the 40,50 . Trust me, it's not that easy in the Masser, had to keep it in 2nd all the way. He followed every turn, you could tell he was looking for a reason, in fact he got a bit close at least twice

Spotted at least 4 Speed cops and a white van on the main route to leeds. Glad no one stepped out in front of me cos i'd have run them over. Too busy watching my speedo

Nice to know the criminals can't get away with it. Glad my tax is spent getting at the real killers.

In the event of such a zealous plodski doing that, i just indicate left, and pull over to the kerb.
If they want to pull me or have a word, they can then do so.
Takes the wind right out of their sails.

I'm with deltaf. I'd just pull over and wait for them to talk to me. If the police have nothing better to do then why not indulge them in some verbal sparing?

I do exactly the same, then once they have passed I can be on my way with safer driving.

Edited to say: Infact I sometimes do the same when its a maxxer trying to get in my boot. Never realised the similarity until this thread!

when i had the bike I used to love em following

I all ways take on a mistry tour of the back lanes.

had a favorat lane that wound and wound aroung eveturly running out of tarmac with deep ditchs at ether side

that ran in to a dead end but for a narrow dirt track

had more than a few suckers down there

it great fun coming around the other side and watch the old farmer towing the plod out with a tractor.

I pull over at the earliest convenience, get the map ready & ask for directions before they get to say anything.

Stumped them at least twice on that one.....

Heard on the Local news they were out on a "Bike" awareness exercise stopped loads of bikes and handed out 40-ish NIP's. North Yorks Police do seem to be getting quite aggressive. My brother-in-law was stopped by an ARV which was right up his backside and would not pass even when he pulled in.

Aggresive, more like harrasment. I drive past harrogate workdays. They like the roundabout between harewood and harrogate. Signs everyware, cops crawling out from every stone. Scamera vans, speed calming and 20mph limits.

Can't think why there having difficulty catching real crook's.

N Yorks roads last year were pasted a 'orrible shade of red through fatal RTA's involving motor cycles, nearly 40 IIRC. Not surprising then is it if campaigns are mounted to try and reduce these numbers (and not a County with speed cameras at very turn.)

This Easter weekend another went to meet his maker (Whitby) and one hovering (Hazelbush A64).

The Easter Bike Safe campaign in the Dales resulted in 120 bikes being stopped. 47 were issued with FPN (illegal exhausts, no helmet and illegal VRM). Five were reported for speeding (1 at 103mph, 1 at 98 mph). So nearly 1 in 2 were lawbreakers.

More repeated attention has been promised.

What's your answer to the problem.

With regards to agressive Police driving I thought an onboard Video would do nicely. Certainly make them think If they caution you. As regards Motorcycles I was merely stating what North Yorks Police were doing. I do not disapprove of making other road users think, just this method used doesn't tend to work. The bikes just go off to so other area. I happened to be in the Brandsby Area taking my son to a trial. Lots of bikes overtook me but no plods around doing anything. Perhaps they'd heard and moved further into the countryside??
