This is how the Wiltshire muggers want to get their message across.........ad for a scamera PR man..........

my emphasis

Salary £18,717 rising to £19,536 in three annual increments

Initial 2 year temporary contract

The Wiltshire & Swindon Road Safety Partnership is in search of a highly motivated individual, with a flair for communication and a head full of ideas to help us bring about a change in driver attitude towards excess speed.

We know that by encouraging drivers to slow down and abide by speed limits we can reduce the number of collisions that occur on our roads each year and as a consequence reduce the number of people who are killed or seriously injured. But we need someone who can come up with innovative ways to get that message across.

Based at the Central Road Safety Unit in Chippenham, you will be responsible for developing and implementing an imaginative and effective
communications strategy to promote the work of the unit. Managing the spend of an annual budget of £25k, you will liaise with local media, produce information literature, organise and deliver presentations and
assist in the development of road safety initiatives in support of our Casualty Reduction Strategy. In particular, you will be responsible for managing the Partnership's website publicising the anti-speeding message and the use of safety cameras as an effective and efficient means of securing compliance with speed limits. We want you to help us inform drivers that we don't want to 'catch them' we just want them to slow down.

Educated to degree or NVQ equivalent in PR/media/marketing, the ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years experience of working within
a media/marketing/public relations environment. He/she will be computer literate with experience of e-commerce and knowledge of computer packages
and website design. Self-confident and with highly developed interpersonal skills, the successful applicant will have a proven ability to undertake
public presentations (applicants selected for interview will be asked to come prepared with a ten minute presentation, on a road safety related
topic, to present to the interview board).

For an application form and job description please telephone 01380 734130
(24 hour answering machine) quoting the reference number PS006.

Closing Date: 21/04/2004

Interesting.

They're paying somebody £20k in order to manage a £25kpa budget? Seems a bit odd to me...

I wonder whether the £20K salary (on-costed to around £30K+) comes out of that £25K - Streaky

Interesting that they're not asking for someone already committed to the notion that scameras are A Good Thing.........just looking for someone to wheeze up their own beliefs and put them across to the great unwashed........

To me, this implies they believe such zealots do not exist.

Does that mean I can do a presentation about how inattentive driving is the main source of accidents in the country?

Hmm. Don't think i'd get that job somehow
