Following on from TVR Tottys unpleasent experience with road rage I thought I would post my own slightly disturping experience.

It happened a few weeks ago now, but I was coming out of Windsor on the Dual Carriageway that leads up to the motorway junction (J6 I think) in a traffic Jam doing about 15 mph, all of a sudden out of the corner of my eye I see someone gesticulating wildly at me through the window of the car next to me. Glancing across I see an exceptionally large looking chap (with the obligatory Shaven Head and Vauxhall Astravan) going purple with fury (and not at all having difficulty breathing as I initially suspected) Now it should be said that I was talking on the mobile phone - as it happens on the phone to the people who fit our hands free kits saying my kit has just stopped working and it needs to sorted pronto I am on the way to your offices and I want you to fix it while I wait - Although his reaction seemed to be far more extreme than someone offended by me driving while on the phone (not something that I would normally do) Anyway he pulled in behind me still flashing his lights like mad. Now at this point we have had to stop because the Traffic Lights are Red at the roundabout Imagine my shock when I can actually see him clambering out of his car and lumbering towards me like Jabba the Hut on Heat. Fortunatly (for Me) the traffic lights chose this moment to change and I have to admit to allowing myself a wry smile as I pulled away (as he got level with the back of the car) and saw him scury (well lurch - he was the sort of chap that would create inertia when running) back to the car. That, I thought, was the end of it but Noooo he then proceds to follow me up the motorway and while I am doing a steady 80 - 85 in the middle lane gets into the outside lane and starts weaving all over the road screaming at me to pull over (cos of course I am going to!!) fortunatly I had a fast enough car to be able to put my foot down wind it up to 110 and leave him behind. It didn't stop him flashing his lights tho and every time I slowed down he would slowly catch up and start weaving all over the road again Even tho I wasn't on the phone any more anyway.

He followed me like this all the way to Junction 13 (was quite glad he pulled off actually I was begining to need Petrol)

What is the matter with people.

I even went through in my mind afterward just in case I had inadvertently cut him up but I hadn't actually changed lane anyway being in a slow moving traffic jam and all.

I had a twat like that once in a builders van. He had a nasty trick too, put his offside wheels in the shale and peppered me. Only in the old Nissan, so not too bothered by that, but it was a bit alarming.

He kept slowing so I would pass, but no way. When you are behind, you have control of the situation. Last thing I wanted was him tipping my rear quarter on a bend or rear ending me.

I thought I would see what he was up to so I indicated to turn off a junction early and sure enough he started to "follow me" from in front.

Little did he know my sneaky, and slightly cowardly plan was to throw him a dummy and sling it back on the M6 after he passed the point of no return. Could see the look of rage in his face

Bldy scary!

'Tis very scary when this sort of thing happens.

On M6 last year going home on a friday night - tossa in corsa undertaking everything in sight. I was keeping to a nice two second rule which gave me distance to block him out (safely and not maliciously(?)) Did this couple of times, traffic cleared and sped off thinking nothing more about it until said muppet tries another very optimistic undertake (one that a macca f1 would be hard pushed to make) when he is in lane two, couple of feet from an artic throwing coins at the car, window open screaming at me! I shoot off again, he follows (his corsa against Audi S3)eventually catches up, light flashing, horn, inch of bumper. On motorways it is very difficult to lose someone regardless of car. I pull into lane 1 between two trucks and he follows. it goes on. Miss my exit because i know it is traffic light controlled and don't want nutter following me to red light. get stuck in traffic jam and manage to get rid of nutcase by last minute lane changes (at 10mph), come off motorway 3 junctions after the one i wanted.

This sort of thing is very scary to say the least. To the resident BiBs - Tonyrec, silverbackmike etc. What should you do in this situation? (Got tot he stage when i phoned wife to take down index number) What would a trafpol think to the excuse for doing 120-130mph as 'being harassed by psycho corsa?? Do you call 999 (in my mind that is possibly an abuse of the service but i am being too sensible?)

As for the other similar road rages mention today, it doesn't half shake you up! There are plenty of nutters out there.

I wrote his reg no on my hand.... Thought well, if it all goes horribly wrong, they ought to investigate that.

Should have called BiB, but miles from anywhere and needed to keep my wits about me. All's well that ends well!

Sadly, you call them - but your word against the other party's - and so long as no-one is injured - they could not be bothered to turn up anyway!

Brother reported dangerous overtake to his local police - double whites, blind bend, narrow miss of oncoming car, excessive and inappropriate speed for the type of road. Nutter had been tailgating, sounding horn and behaving like complete to55er - in 30mph stretch through cluster of villages in North Yorks by all accounts . But - his "civvy" opinion, and would be his and other drivers' word against the other chap.

Only one way to police this....

Altogether now!

Ach! the needle's got stuck!

Nothing too bad here but....

Was following a numpty doing well below the speed limit, so I decided to overtake as the road was perfectly clear.

Numpty decides to swerve out in front of me to stop me overtaking But then he has second thoughts and pulls over. I did get past him

It's these kind of idiots that want locking up, as they could clearly cause an accident.

The drivers that want to make progress are hurting nobody.

I too have had bad experiences, but they have got less since I got the 4x4... say what you like about them being ill handling crates, they certainly make it easier to "deal" with people. No one tries to brake-test you when you have a 1/2 ton advantage. NOr do they cut you up, unless they are blind. Yup, I can say that 4x4 (and/or Yank-Tank) ownership makes these little occurences that much more bearable!
