Hearing a lot of stories in Glasgow area of the Cops stopping people with excess snow on their roof and fining them. anytone else heard about this or experienced this?

There are a lot of idiots out there who are too lazy to clear properly, but was wondering which part of the RTA would apply to this and what the 'criteria' is?

if you brake suddenly the snow goes forward and u cant see, at speed, the snow falls off and blinds the car behind

tend to get a plastic dustpan and brush and remove the snow whilst the car is warming up

Great! Edinburgh has been a disaster zone recently, not helped by those who drive for a while with 6" of snow on the roof and then at some point stop and it all slides forward and engulfs the windscreen. Then 'Q' said 'tard holding up traffic while they dive out and frantically dig it away with their hands. Or those that drive along at 30+ and the snow and ice flies off the roof and hits the following cars... I'd imagine the bits of ice would be quite damaging to paintwork when hit at speed.

Not sure which part of the RTA applies but totally agree with it though. Passed countless amounts of people with a foot + of snow on their roof. Idiots.

Presumably, 'offenders' have been offered endorsable Fixed Penalty Notices ?

If so, then the offence of using a vehicle in a dangerous condition (s.40A RTA 1988) seems likely.

Only three points?

When I impliment my Reich, I'll allow lazy, selfish retards that drive with snow covering their lights / glass to be run over by their own cars. utter wker rage

I've seen so many of these fking bellends over the past few days that I've lost count. Am I really the only in the region that bothers to sweep his car before driving anywhere?
Very true - I seem to be in the minority of people round here that properly cleans the car too. Really winds me up other people with silly amounts of snow on their car driving along the road!

Passed one last night with literally just the sweep of the windscreen wipers clear, all the rest of the car had at least 6 inches.

Sounds like a silly chain text message to me, but its probably the only one of those I don't have a problem with.

No you're not, me too. Neighbours in UK think I'm a cupid stunt too it seems.

Matters such as this will be dealt with by reference to Section 1 of the law I will enact when I am Prime Minister.

FiF's proposed TJTTP/OFFS law.

Section 1

When a solid body of citizens, having been fully appraised of the facts in a case automatically utter one of the phrases listed in Schedule A, then the accused will be imediately found guilty of a summary offence and will be subject to a penalty of VBRJ / BBAK as determined by the court.

Schedule A
Response Phrases
i) Well that's just taking the piss!
ii) Oh for fk's sake!!

Saw a TT yesterday - with a round hole in front of the steering cleared. Everything else had atleast 5-6 inches of snow on it, including most of the windscreen.

Must have been a tank driver or something.

Number One son (of one) has just reported that he and a van he was following that had snow blowing off the roof was stopped by a police car that overtook the pair of them. The observer asked my son whether the snow had been a problem for him. Son said it was annoying. His details were taken and he was told that the van driver would be 'done' for driving without reasonable consideration for other road users.

It needs evidence that another road user 'suffered' as a consequence of the lack of consideration, to report for DWRC.

It appears that entering hash followed by a number at the start of a line, creates a numbered list. Opening edited to correct - S

Oh great! Does that include using fog lights when there is no fog, or failing to dip the lights for oncoming traffic?

And what about the 12 seater taxi parked on a corner which had double yellow lines around in front of "The Queens" pub in Windermere, which I had to make my way around tonight?mad

STV news has just said that the rumour about Glasgow police doing you for snow on the roof is untrue - apparently Strathclyde Police have made it quite clear that they not booking people for this.

But only this morning, I saw one of Lothian & Borders finest stopping a car and telling the female driver to clear ALL her windows - not just the peephole - and her roof. When she showed resistance, they said "do it or we'll ticket you". She cleared it.

I have mixed feelings about this , here in Germany snow is a issue and I have been in a white-out a few times
Trucks are a huge problem , slight change in wind and off it comes and if you are by the side of the truck it gets dangerous.

But my big moan is ice from trucks I have seen bits as big a 1 sq yard and 3" thick come of the roof ( plastic canopy ) of some trucks . Hit one of these at any speed and its a nasty event.
