12 Points on licence, didn't go to court!!!
Discussion
I'm a bit confused! Have just got my licence back this morning, with 3 points entered, making a total of 12 active points and a receipt for £60 with compliments.
I was expecting a court date. Never having been to court, should i expect a summons at a later date as well? Or have i been extrememly lucky and maybe some newbie has processed it without realising?
I have feeling that my initial euphoria is going to be shortlived and you're all going to tell that a court apprearance is imminent

Drive very carefully for a while
I'm going to have to drive very carefully for 2 years if i've avoided a disqual!
I don't suppose anyone out there has picked up 12 points without a court appearance?
It would be nice to think that someone has looked at the offence and used some discretion, as 80 on a quiet dual carraigeway in perfect conditions maybe doesn't deserve a totting up ban, but that'll be me getting all idealistic again

Had the same a year or two ago. Kept changing the court date after getting nabbed on M6. In the end they dealt with it in my absence and added 6 points to my license that already had 9 points.
It turned out they cannot disqual you in your absence.
To check call the DVLA and ask how many points you have and if you are banned. After a long silience they said I had 15 but no disqual. Just take it easy for a while.

Hi Bindit!
dont forget though these majic words from the Great Magna Carta (still Law btw whatever anyone may tell you to the contrary!, as common Law is always above Statute Law!) and I quote; 20. For a trivial offence, a free man shall be fined only in proportion to the degree of his offence, and for a serious offence correspondingly, but not so heavily as to deprive him of his livelihood!!!!!!.
