Oh well. Only 30 turned up to his meet the public event. BBC News link

BBC said:
On speeding, Mr Brunstrom repeated his opinion that it was anti social behaviour, and he said it was a fact that about a third of road deaths in Britain were caused by speeding.

Mr Brunstrom urged motorists to buy a car with a speed limiter, saying he had one himself and so it was impossible to break the limit.

Suppose its only o be expected.

Local resident Neil Foden said: "It's a pity more people weren't here, they'd have got a different impression, perhaps from how Mr Brunstrom comes over in some of his interviews."

Well I suppose he couldn't be more of an arsehole in person ... could he?

Does that mean he can't go faster than 20pmh even on the motorway? Perhaps it's set a 40mph and he drives at that speed all the time. Or maybe he's got it set at 50mph because all the speed cameras are in ex-NSL 50pmh zones, and they are obviously the only real danger spots.

Fkwit!

I reckon I could get an extra 2 hours sleep a day if I had a speed limiter in my car, after all I would have to give my speed a second thought.

What a ridiculous thing to say. I'm assuming he's talking cruise control here? Only useful if you remember to set it. Even then, what do you do if the limits are changing all over the place?

"Sorry officer, I was adjusting my cruise control so I wouldn't speed and be antisocial and I didn't see the little old lady crossing the road in front of me".

Will someone please find me the resources required to run an anti-Brunstrom road show?

I'm just itching to do the job...

I strongly doubt he has, unless it's one of these trial cars..... Which would mean he hasn't paid for it, and is therefore abusing his position to obtain free stuff.

Amazing isn't it....our tax pays for his little roadshows, forcing an opinion down our throats at our expense.

If I had the choice I'd gladly direct some of my income tax to you Paul, at least it would go towards something that I agree and support.

Yes the usual crap. He has said this before and is talking about cruise control.

Of course, the dumbkopfs listening to him will think he really has a limiter. So if you see a Merc cruising up the M56 at 29.999 mph, there's yer man.

Or would it be limited to 69.9999? In which case it would be of no use outside a school.

He has (reportedly) said in the past, "My Mercedes will do 140 mph, which is is ridiculous".

So why did he accept it?

Yeah. That'd be fun. But I'd still be up against a load of hotel and fuel bills

I will have to do it at least once. Whenever anyone hears of the schedule, please let me know right away.

Obviously I'll have to print it out. And travel with a journalist.

Of course I could write to them and ask if I would be welcome.

If they say no, I go to the press.
If they say yes, I go to the meeting.
