Driving along M62 today and noticed a new sign at the M62/A1 interchange.
There have been ongoing road works here for over twelve months and a 50mph limit with cameras.

The sign read:
Slow down 6182 speeders here since Sept 2003

Now I've been thinking
6182 speeders in 8 months
773 per month
26 per day (assuming 30 days per month)
13 per day per carriageway

Approximately 1 speeder every two hours, this seems like a very successful campaign.
Judging by the number of people passing these cameras the number of people caught must be a minute percentage.

One other thing of concern is that the only workmen present are outside the speed controlled area.

Successful at raising money, a dismal failure at slowing people down.

Edited to add: 6182 x £60 = £370920
