Just got up this morning to find a NIP on the mat. Dual carriage way, 50 Limit, must have been a mobile camera caught me doing 83mph.

I acknowledge I will and should be punished for this but has anyone been procescuted for a similar offence to give me an idea of the impending punishment?

Cheers

Should be looking at 6 points, if you get away with 3 you'll be lucky

Can you say which dual carriageway? Theres a slim chance you could check the 50 was correct, most DCs should be 70 unless there's a particular reason.
However you'll still have bust it smash

From memory you'll be over the limit for a fixed penalty, so a court appearance is likely. Short term ban (7-28 days) or 4-6 points plus a fine, I would imagine.

Your're outside of the range for an FPN, so will (probably) have an appointment with the Magistrates, where the following will be used:

A 'Band B' fine is between 75% and 125% of an offender's weekly gross pay, less tax and NI.

You still havent said how you managed to get up to 83 leptons on a 50 DC
Was it obviously a 50 ?
Did you think 83 was safe?

There's 1/3 off that for an early guilty plea.

It's a blatantly stupid limit down there. In the good old days, when I used to live at Chester-le-Street, I (and others) have seen 1.6 leptons on that stretch in perfect safety. Had to brake a bit for the left-hander after the railway bridge, though!

Complain then
If most people are safely doing more than 50 it doesnt meet the speedlimit or the camera guidelines
Not sure if it'll get you anywhere but if no-one complains...

£1800 a head. Good job it wasn't a gangbang frankly. That could really have cost.

Anyway, 110 in a 70, short disqualification, 6 points (I have 12 to spare), and a small fine. Hmm, might drive a bit quicker than I have been as that's not the end of the world.
