Sorry if this has cropped up before but...

I heard a day or two ago that the number of 'speeding' motorists caught has gone up by 40% from 2002 to 2003.

No surprise there. But this was taken as evidence that Gatsos were 'working'.

Now excuse me, but surely, if the number of 'speeding' motorists had perchance gone *down*, this would also be claimed (with justification) as a victory for Gatsos.

So regardless of whether the figures go up OR down, they're still hailed a success. When will these berks realise that the game is up?

No

IMO if the number of drivers caught by Gatso's goes up then they have failed, the more they catch the more miserably they have failed. I believe they are looking to catch more drivers this year than last, therefore they must be looking to fail completely which I am sure they will do to much applause from the anti car lobby(new Labour)

A more criminally stupid bunch of feckwits you will never see than "The Partnerships".
How they sleep at night after some of the lies theyve told, and by deliberate negligence the lives theyve taken, will always remain beyond my capacity for coherent or logical thought.

To claim that their strategy is "working" by proclaiming that numbers of injured people are UP and motorists persecuted UP,and that this represents a positive result, is crass beyond all reason.
There are amoeba on Saturn with more of a grip on reality than "the Partnerships" have.

When this speed camera road safety FARCE eventually comes ginding to stuttering halt and the serious questions begin to be asked, whats the betting that the likes of the dumbell Beth Mitcheson, Mary Williams, Brunstrom, Transport2000 and all the rest of those hateful anti car losers disappear in a cloud of their own farts?
I really dont see THEM hanging around to face the music, they dont have that kind of honour, none of them.
The end IS coming for the speed camera, itll just be a little while longer until we can get rid of the pack of bastards (thanx Scoobyzoom ) who are responsible.

Deltaf - would you like to see less Gatsos etc, but only if they were replaced with more Traffic Officers (like me... Britain's most sarcastic man...?)

Oh ffs, it's not normally I post on SP&L threads, but tonight I'm going to (with a big help frm Messers Carlsberg and Smirnoff);

EVERY PERSON A CAMERA CATCHES IS AN INSTANCE IT IS NOT WORKING AS A SPEED REDUCTION DEVICE.

If cameras worked in reduing speed (note I did not say accidents) they would not catch anyone.

Deltaf, let me know if I ever stop you... We can have a "sarcasm off"... Unfortunately, I think that you're going to see less and less of us driving round in cars and pulling sheds... I'm sure you know, it's not just crappy cars, but the scrotes that drive them that bring them to our notice...

Would it surpise you to know that in one of the divisions of a north western provincial Police service, covering an area of about 400 square miles, the minimum staffing level is one traffic PC... 2 if you're very, VERY, lucky?

Loads of Gatsos though...

Just no gatso at all and regular birchings of the advocvates would suffice. I would really love to make the little bits of vermin scream as I asked them if cameras were a good idea. By the time I had finished we would be confident that re election would result in sesible policies.

Do you mean that we'll see fewer TrafPols, or we'll see less of them (eg. they will drive unmarked cars)? Or both? - Streaky

Surely not ..... arrgh! LanCASH£re?

Well that would explain why we would see less of you lot there - you have all been replaced with a yellow tin and that is why there are more accidents there than in C....a.

Well it happened to coincide with the number of safety camera partnerships increasing from 8 to about 41 so the 40% rise is a bit smaller than I expected.

Suprised? No. Scared though.

This basically means that as long as I know the locations of the scameras. I can drive pretty much as fast as I want, and under the influence of whatever I want, and have a pretty good chance of not being stopped.

And these are *safety* cameras?
