For those who know the road this is good news here

It really takes the piss having 30 limits on such a major road. Lets hope they really do change the limits!

I don't know that section, but if it's anything like the A38 North of Cheddar Gorges, past the airport in to Bristol then it should be NSL

More likely they'll put new limits on the B roads, install traffic calming measures, and erect SCAMERAS! - Streaky

On the B-road they're refurring too the decided it would be a good idea to draw yellow lines marking the start/end of a 30 limit. However, these lines looked like cattle grids and hence the farmers couldn'd move their sheep and cows about so the council then had to remove said lines!

Typical forward thinking from Somerset county council.....

Would that be the 40 limit past the quarry? Fully agree with you on that one, I've never seen an accident there in all the years I drive along that road twice every day.

I almost had one once - on the 2 lane section up the hill (Red Hill?). Pulled out to overtake someone and someone was turning right.... quick slam of anchors and pull back in

You're close, its the A38 south of Cheddar gorge they're on about.
I used to use it alot when it was NSL but they changed it to 30 and 40 about 3 years ago. Some stretches are wide and straight A road with only fields either side.
Doing 60 even seems slow , 30 is just total madness!
There's probably more accidents now through utter frustration than there ever was before.
