the reason the A449 has speed restrictions..
Discussion
Well the inquest has been completed on the two that died on the A449 worcs to kiddy road.
The accident raised the profile of the danger of this "bypass" and it was changed to single lane sections, and reduced to 40mph. So, now every driver (thousands of drivers) have to obey slow speed and bottlenecks becasue the road is now labelled "dangerous"
The inquest has announced the two in the crash were not wearing safety belts, and showed amphetamins, "blow" and drink in their systems.
I would suggest the "2 death rule" for cameras and speed restrictions should have a get out clause when the evidence suggests it wasn't the roads fault.

stooz,
Not seen this inquest verdict.
Was this the one where they hit the tree on the double bends south of Ombersley? Or one nearer to Kidde by the ind estates?
Not to mention the crossover collisions near Hartlebur where the AIB evidence cleary stated that speed excess or otherwise was not a causation factor. Now single lane and 50.
Not to mention another road, now 30, where the only ksi were two twoccers under pursuit.
I guess one could say "We are not amused."

This doesnt surprise me.
Reminds me of a news bulletin a while ago where someone was killed in a RTA. the driver went to court and i generally quote from the BBC news reporter:- "..the SPEEDING motorist ...blah blah... was driving on the wrong side of the road and under the influence......"
they had to emphasise the fact the driver was speeding, so it had nothing to do with being drunk and on the wrong side of the road?
