What's the position if you get caught speeding in another country?

Can you incur points on your license that will affect your insurance etc...

Is it only certain countries that can issue points to you?

Does anyone in particluar know the position with regard to Cyprus.

Any information would be useful.

Thanks

Only UK courts can put points onto UK licences or ban you from driving in the UK.
Any ban from another country only applies to that country.
If you are banned in the UK there is nothing to stop you applying for a licence and taking a test abroad. You could then drive anywhere in the World except the UK.

Under Crime (International Co-operation) Act 2003, Sects 56 onwards, disqualifications abroad will be effective in the UK. So far however, there is no commencement date AS YET for this particular section of legislation so like Xmas it's coming.
