Came round a corner on a dual carriageway yesterday to see a van on the hard shoulder with a telescopic camera mounted on the roof and facing directly across the road at 90 degrees.

100 yards further up were a police car and motorcycle.

It wasn't facing oncoming traffic so what was it?

I was slightly in excess of the 60 limit and immediately slowed but have I been caught?

The BiB didn't move but I guess they wouldn't have to....

Sounds like an ANPR van.

Just checking your taxed and insured.

(I think these vans are a great idea, i just wish they were painted a different colour so i don't st myself everytime I come across one)

I wondered cause it wasn't facing traffic and was just round a bend, so no chance of prior view.

Looking directly across the road, I wasn't sure that it could detect speed.
