Am I right in thinking that if you also have a foreign licence depending on where from you could drive on this if banned for upto 12 months or some can be exchanged for GB licence.
Also could you get points put on foreign licence instead of UK licence.

I'd like to know coz I'm off to Spain to live August/September and it would be handy to share any points I might get between the two licences. Martin.

I wondered this point, my mate is a English, and has a UK driving license, but from working out in Dubai he has a UAE driving license, if he got stopped in this country could he have that one endorsed?

I think it's quite clear. If you get points applied in the UK they can only be applied to your UK licence, or to you as an individual if you have a foreign licence. The UK courts cannot remove a foreign licence, but they can make it illegal for you to drive in the UK. If you have a foreign licence you could still use it elsewhere in the world, but not drive in the UK whilst banned. The UK courts have no jurisdiction over foreign licences used in any way outside the UK.
In practice, however, it is unlikely that you will be chased by the UK authorities if you give a foreign licence and state that your address as given in the UK is temporary.
Remember, all they really want is your £60 with no hassle.
