I live very close to a children’s park and for the last few months a couple of 16 year old tits have been riding round it on mopeds while kids are playing.

The lady who looks after the park has had numerous words with them and this seems to have stopped for the moment. However the number of mopeds is now up to around seven. For two hours after the park closes at eight o'clock they congregate around the entrance, then proceed to ride up and down the pavement without helmets, pull skids outside my house, doughnut, carry pillion passengers, continually pipping their horns and generally make a nuisance of themselves.

Tonight I've had enough and have been out and told them to piss off. They have but I suspect they'll be back at it tomorrow. What's the best course of action I can take short of slapping them about with a crowbar, pouring petrol over their stupid hair dryers and setting them alight?

Write down the number plates and report them?
Video it?

As someone only a little bit older than these tits, this is a serious bit of advice. If they are just general little shits then try to make yourself look as big and hard as possible, with a mate would help. And just generally be abusive and tell them where to go. They will decide that going somewhere else is easier and less hassle.

We have a gang of scooterers too. Only seen them once en masse, riding down the highstreet in a loud procession of motorised tracksuits (all helmeted...).

One of them has taken to riding down a passage behind our house, which unfortunately is private ground (and no one knows who it belongs to) so the council won't do anything.

Seems like they are fast becoming the Chav accessory of choice.

Ring the police and/or take photos.

Wasn't a child killed recently by a reckless moped rider up in Scotland?

Sounds like it is time to get Plod involved and action under Section 59 Police Reform Act 2002 for riders to be warned and if they persist seizure of the vehicles.
Works out just over the ton in notes to get them back which is probably more than any fine likely to be imposed by Their Worships.

If they do not have permission to ride from the land owner and the area is not a Public Highway Then they should not be there. I believe this is covered by the RTA where areas such as private car parks were covered. If it isn't council owned land and they do have permission then thats a different matter and you can complain to the land owner.

Thank's all. Amazingly last night there was no bother. A couple pulled up and were just talking (something I don't have a problem with).

Maybe they just needed someone to tell them to get lost in no uncertain terms. Knowing how stupid children are though I suspect that it will gradually get worse again, if it does then I'll have 'em.

I'd never realised how annoying mopeds are. It's not as if they even sound nice. Why can't someone race a fleet of exotica up and down my street?
