Insurance woes....

Presumably this is your 500E were talking about ?
I know the wings have flared arches , but aren't the doors just standard W124 doors ?
Even if they have a slightly different shape ( as do the doors on the 'widebody' W126 cars ) , they will still be based on standard doors , and a skilled body shop ought to be able to fettle them .
Even if the ins. co's 'approved repairer' is unable/unwilling to do this , you should still be able to go to a repairer of your choice and have the work done at their cost , as long as it does not exceed the write off value .
The usual get-out of them only paying the price their repairer would charge is moot since their repairer is unable or unwilling to do the work at their quoted price - which makes their quotation invalid .
If you want somebody who can do the job properly and is used to doing high quality bodywork on that type of car - try jaymanek over on the MBClub.co.uk forum .
