C6 Add halted PC going mad ?
Discussion
Just pulled this off the ZR1 net.
Does this person think pulling an add will stop young lads from dreaming of fast cars and "pulling" a nice lady.
I still dream abount that and one day it might come true
The C6 commercial of the little kid dreaming of driving a Vette has been yanked. GM cited "concern by safety groups".
The "spearhead" for the ad retraction is Janette Fennell with Kids and Cars (a safety group).
She was interviewed on Detroit (TV) News tonight and said the ad "depicted a child dreaming of driving recklessly through city streets" and called it "over the top".
Here ya go group. Let's tell her to go bark up the violent, degrading video games.

I read this, and was very annoyed; PC gone mad. And correct, erm don't games like Gran Turismo and the like equally have realistic models haring around cities??
Anyway, in any case they're lucky to have had the commercial in the first place: as you know, our British namby-pamby rules means we can't show a car doing anything sporting etc. in the first place...

I have sent the b1tch an email...see below.
Dear Janette,
I believe you oppose the advert for the new Corvette C6 according to reports I have read on the internet. As a child I had a model of a corvette and always wanted one, at the age of 33 I achieved my dream. I currently own my third.
You want to stop today's children from achieving their dreams on what grounds? You think that a car advert will incite children to steal cars and to drive irresponsibly?
You underestimate the thoughts of a child.
If anyone is going to steal a car and drive irresponsibly they will, regardless of your opinion.
You live in the "land of the free" not Nazi Germany.
So stop trying to be a censor and get a life.
Regards,

Well said ^.
It's only a ****ing advert, it's not going to make everyone go out and drive like maniacs.
I play computer games which are about (or allow me to)street racing (NFS Underground), violence (GTA), shooting (Unreal), making drugs (TES), but I don't do any of this in real life.
If an advert is supposed to show what the 'Vette is capable of, ie going fast, handling well, then the only place to show this is in an advert on the race track with a 30yr old driver.
What a control freak.

Why am I not surprised at this commercial being pulled? I thought it would
cause the 'sad no life PA correct groups' to stir and it did. When I first
watched the commercial on the net, I made two comments to my wife. First was
'they wouldn't allow an ad like that over here - they would say it
encourages joy riding'. The second was 'I bet they ban it over there when
people start moaning'.
Interesting that some of you mentioned video games. At a recent trial over
here, violent video games were blamed.....what a load of bull.
How stupid do these people think kids are? I used to have posters of Lambos,
Vettes, planes and the odd model on the wall when I was a kid. I also play
sick violent video games and went through a phase of listening to violent
rap music. But contrary to opinion -
I never stole a lambo, Vette, plane. I never went out to abuse women on the
street. I never re-in acted the violence on any of my video games on anyone.
Or followed any of the music I listened to.
AND I can guarantee that it is people from these same 'groups' that are
trying to make it illegal for parents to smack their kids overhear. Now I'm
not for beating kids but I remember what I was like as a kid and I always
knew where the 'line' was. If I crossed it I knew my mum would tell my dad
and he would give my a hiding.
These things make me so mad, when will people in power wake up and re-join
the real world

The above post was a reply I made on the ZR1.net mail server and I did forward to the bitch as well!
On a similar subject, a good point was made by someone on 'Bad Boys' last night. Now I am not usually into all that 'fly on the wall' stuff but I have caught the last few episodes of this. Basically the 'recruits' are all losers that have been in and out of jail for GBH, theft etc and they had to do 4 weeks National Service. A couple of them passed comments that they would rather do 1 year in jail compared to Nat Service! It did appear to work on them thats for sure.
