I had to buy some new T-shirts so bought four Corvette T-shirts but "while I was there" I bought a Breathless shifter, a Hurst knob and a K&N filter. I knew it wouldn't last....

you forgot the CAGS defeat!

The BPP shifter has three sets of springs, I used the ones it came installed with. The shifter takes a bit of getting used to as it is very close and short, but once you do, it is so much better than the tractor shift the Z06 comes with.

He he. I already got the CAGS defeat and the column lock bypass plus the front and rear stainless steel lettering and even the steering wheel emblem (well worth $17...not!). I also wasted $12 on a performance hood seal which is a strip of cheap tube with a huge sticky strip on it. Fitted it, looked crap, pulled it off, all the sticky came off and it's been on the garage floor ever since.

I also got some Corvette dust caps which I left off until the Cwmbran show was out of the way as they get nicked there. Anyway, on two days and nicked at the club meeting. Aaargh!

I thought long and hard about a Vararam intake but concluded that even netting .3 of a second over the quarter wasn't worth $400 or even more if you buy a new air bridge for about $150. Besides, they've had stock Z06's in the 11's so why would a better intake make it any faster?

BTW, I bought the BPP after mucho praiso on the forums and as soon a I ordered it, in came the negatives like 5th and Reverse are really hard to get because it's a "drag racing box". What's your experience, Nigel, on those two gears furthest away.

Also, some sites offered a choice between straight and angled shafts (oo-er missus) but the site I got mine from (Mid America Motorworks) only seemed to offer the angled dog-leg version. Which have you got?

I have the straight one, but you can position it in a number of places as the shaft bolts to the base using 2 bolts and 4 holes (from memory). Therefore, you can mount the shaft on either side of the base shaft and using any 2 of 4 holes. You also get a wedge to allow you to angle the shifter.

Checkout the diagrams here....

Did not have a problem with any of the gears until recently but that is nothing to do with the shifter.

Is that the dreaded selector fork problem? It's one I worry about.I understand it was aluminium up to 02 and steel from thereon in.

Those sound like a modest start but at least none of them should blow your engine to bits!

The nicking of fancy valve caps at Club meets seems to be standard these days. Stops those clunky bits of metal upsetting our wheel balance though....

It's a weird one, don't think it is the selector forks.

The stuff arrived today. Ordered 5th September, delivered 11th - that's 6 days. Can't fault it.
