I just treated myself to a Pioneer AVIC 1N DVD Navigation system. Looking forward to getting it installed. It comes with US and Canada maps.

Does anyone in UK have a similar system and anyone know whether you can get UK software for it?

Mate has the VDO Dayton system in his BMW and that has maps for all of Europe....just each one is on a different DVD and therefore every time you change country you have to swop the DVD
One of the UK Corvette owners has a DVD system with a reversing camera fitted.

Well I installed the system and I have to say it's awesome! Good sound from the BOSE speakers as the Soundgate harness has an adjuster for the low impedence. The audio cues from the Nav kit are great and the displays are clear, especially the detailed intersection stuff. GPS tracking performance is spot on.

Hardest hook up was to the PCM for the vehicle speed. Spent a happy hour peering at the maze of wires in the wheel well before I had the courage to hook it up! Decided to put the hideaway unit in the glove box as the space behind the dash was limited. Only ever had the drivers manual in there anyway!

It came with 2 DVDs for West Coast and East Coast USA.

I'm disappointed looking at the Pioneer web site. They say the system is not compatible in Europe. I can understand the .2MHz gaps for the radio and the Region 1 vs Region 2 DVD format issues but why diffrences/compatibility issues on the Navigation system? Doesnt make sense.

My problem is I don't fancy shelling out GBP99 for the Europe disk if it won't work! Anyone have a copy of the DVD I could try in demo mode to see if it works? I'll buy a full copy if it does as I really don't want to lose the function when I come home!

Just fitted the mic to use the voice control circuit. Catch is the AVIC N1 has an American accent. having a bit of a problem persuading it to understand a Brit accent!!!

Maybe this is the incentive I need to develop that Las Vegas twang!
