Pics of Cliffs engine, I assume this was done by a 1st year apprentice Lada mechanic (No disrespect to Lada intended).
Head showing clear sealant![]()
More sealant![]()
Coolant Housing with more sealant![]()
That hole![]()
Thanks TEKWIZ for posting the photo's and ZR1forfun for taking them.
This is how the car was returned to me ,the 1st photo shows clear silicone applied between the block and the ladder frame and if it is the hole that is putting out the oil,and i will add we havent road tested as yet then i can only assume this is where they thought the oil was coming from likewise the head with the black silicone.
I am really struggling to get my head around why the hole was not spotted on the 2nd rebuild and then the 2 head gasket replacements later??,i am also struggling to understand the use of silicone in this was ,its a bit like having a leaky tap but lets just put extra silicone round the bath to stop the spread, surely you address the root of the problem.
The coolant housing like the one i am holding in another picture also shows sealant smeared on to stop a leak, once the CH was removed it was easy to see the problem that the threads had been stripped and there was an attempt to use helilocks just to get enough purchase to keep it together.
Mr Jeal i am deeply dissapointed at your work and with your words ringing in my ear from the last telephone conversation "You stick to taxi driving and let me get on with the engineering" before you hung up on me ,there's a corner shop near me advertising a "Paper Round".
The mind boggles at what other surprises await further down in the engine.

Looks like it was the "If I smear enough of this around it will eventually fill the gap" mentality. He just didn't smear enough around, that's all.
btw, is Jeal still in business?
The sad thing is he probably is!,making a living out of mugs like me.
I must aportion some blame to myself as people were warning me ,i even used to stand up for the guy.
I wouldnt even take a bike with the chain off to him now!

"Passionate about Corvette, passionate about high performance, Corvette factory trained technicians to look after every facet of your C4/C5.."
Am I glad I have a C3!! Maybe it should be passionate about sealant!!! I wonder what GM would say about this ad for "factory trained technicians".

As for the "Factory trained technicians" ,anyone soughting any work should ask for proof of this.

Hi Cliff, I've got photos to show you some time!!
Any further news on how yours is coming on (any of your questions answered yet?). Hope to catch up with you and Joe soon.
Since getting my car back from "Jerk Jeal & the Silicone kid" ive been doing all the work myself with the help of others.
Ive sorted out the leaks and changed the chip to a non destruct type and am in the process of rebuilding the suspension with new bushes,UJ's,Wheel bearings and ball joints.
As yet none of my questions have been answered and i have not received the letter that i was promised, but then ive served my purpose £££££££££.
