Everyone knows speed itself is not dangerous.

Planes go pretty fast.

Innappropriate speed for the conditions is bad, but then that same thing generally falls under bad driving. Not just speed.
That same bad or incompetent driver can crash and cause severe damage at low speeds too.

But really. how on earth are the government going to invent a Gatso Sleep Camera, that flashes and sends you a fine if you close your eyes...

If they arent making any money from it, then they will ahve no interest. They do not care about road safety.

Totally agree, I find I concentrate a lot more whilst going fast than if I am driving at 30!

I think it's funny when people say it's more dangerous to drive a sports car... when they're designed to accelerate (get out of trouble) and brake/handle (avoid trouble)!

It's not speeding that is dangerous, it's bad driving. Always has been, always will be.

Raised a point on "speed plod and the law" recently..

Had a 20mph zone put in near to me, far more dangerous as I am constantly being overtaking by impatient dickheads - making the whole point of the zone worse than when everyone was happy to do 30 !

It was mentioned also that 20mph is hard to stick to as requires a lot of constant throttle adjustment and checking of the speedo - taking away concerntration on the road and surroundings and possibly, again, making the point of the 20 zone worse ??

One of my cars at idle (choke on) sits at 1000rpm which equates to 40mph !!! so it's damned difficult to even stick to 30, and warm idle 600rpm still wants to go faster than 20 !!! another set of pads on order !!!
