C5 Engine Number...?
Discussion
This is from a 2001 Service Manual " All engines and transmissions are stamped or laser etched with a partial vehicle identification number, which is derived from the complete VIN. A VIN derivative can be used to determine if a vehicle contains the original engine or transmission, by matching the VIN derivative positions to their accompanying positions in the complete VIN". The derivative is the last 9 digits of your VIN. This number is located on a pad behind the drivers side cylinder head.
Hope this helps
