Was it me or did every other Le Mans GTS race car (including the new Maserati)get a mention apart from the record breaking C5-R winner of 3 of the last 4 Le Mans 24hours???????

I might have missed something but as far as I could tell all JC was interested in was the new Aston beating the Ferrari's!!!!!!!!

I know the C5-R doesn't run in the ELMS but I do recall JC mentioning the 3 lights on the side of the car that indicate the race possition (for the ALMS series) where the C5-R has dominated for the last 4 years at least!!!!!!!

Yeah - I noticed that too!

Wasn't too sure about the particular series he was talking about but I was thinking the C5R was missing.

Ah well, just another case of Topgear refusing to realise / not noticing how good some of the US race cars are.

They gave the new SRT-10 a decent review though which was nice to see. I wonder if they'll ever get the new Z06 on and taken round the track .... I'm thinking it'd be hard for them to find a reason not to like it!

I thought he was talking about GT class cars. The Vettes run in GTS.

He was referring to the World GT series I suspect- think it starts next year, if not it is tabled for 2006. Nothing to do with Le Mans or ALMS - the former certainly is not run by the FIA, is the ALMS? I read an article a couple of months back and it sounds great with most of the manufacturers you would want signing up for it. Now about the manufacturer you would most want... I think they are, or is that just my brain playing games. I am 98% sure

According to astonmartinracing.com & americanlemans.com the DBR9 will make its racing debut at next years Sebring 12 hours March 16-19th '05 (the first race of the ALMS)before returning to Europe to concentrate on Le Mans 24 hour 2005!!!!!!!

At Sebring it will race in the new GT1 class (formerly GTS) thus the C6-R will be in direct compertition with it & I guess it will therefore be in direct compertition with it at Le Mans '05!!!!!!!

So why did JC not mention the bench mark Corvette that it will be up against instead of worrying about the Ferrari's?????????????????????????????????????????

For someone who prefers to blow up Vettes with air to surface missiles it's bloody obvious

I for one am going to have a conflict of interests next June!!

Looks nice but I still want to see the Vette's on top. I guess if the Vette's do beat it, we'll hear relatively little mention of the whole racing class on UK TV.

I think the Aston DBR9 looks lovely and yes it will be in direct competition to the C6R at Le Mans, Sebring etc and yes the only race series that I am aware of that uses the "3 lights" system is the ALMS (Green lights = GTS).
The Aston will get loads of publicity as Martin Brundle and Mark Blundell are down to race one of them. Don't know if there are any plans for more than a one car entry by Aston.
As the C6R is a C5R with new body panels I am expecting it to be very reliable, which is not the case for the Aston so it will be interesting to see which is a. faster and b. more reliable.

I thought there was going to be a 2 car Aston team at Sebring next year with the dream team ''Brundle & Blundell'' racing in their own team as of 2006!!!!

Also I think Aston will give factory backing to privatly run Aston teams, of which one will be Pro Drive & another will be the Brundle / Blundell combo, & I hear what u are saying re the reliability factor, as I believe Murry Walker used to to say '' To finish first, first you must finish.''
