It is being swapped into a Chimear (Rover RV8 5.0 lire in my case - real 275bhp (TVR claim 320!)and about 300ft/lbs, not Cerb which is 4.5 (biggest single over head cam per bank and goo for a true 350 -370bhp and mid to low say 330ft/lbs torque).
Std dry weigh is 1060 - 1070 ( will check the weight of a dressed RV8 in a book I have on modding) but as retining std gearbox t5 (full over haul rather than a TKO + 15kg or a t56 - alot more than that) it should be a max of 1100. Buy as 20 kg is an Olympic weigh lifting plate I doubt the difference will even be 20kg!

That is what I thought until I did som digging - was going to go for a TKO 600. But then talked to my TVR dealer and someone doing this in NZ and seems that can handle the Tuscan race power in CR or non CR spec (more to do with the bearings being in top order than the strength of the gears) and they get used in Auscar where they take a bit less tha 500bhp and what ever torque goes with that. So it will get a full overhaul. Will make the whole job alot easier as well.
Wayne - when you say the fully dress LS6 is 497.2lbs this sounds like you mean with the box as your mext sentence talks about the weight of the auto combo.
The book I looked up in last nite on engine weights - just the engine (for engine swaps for TR's) states the Rover / Buick is 355lb, Ford 320 all iron 475, Ford 302 alloy heads 424, Old style SBC w alloy heads 525 and old SBC iron heads 575lbs. TR4 engine 400lbs - mine is about 363lbs though special alloy head!
I'll check on LS1tech.com
[FYI, the fully dressed LS6 weighs 497.2lbs which is 226kilos. The auto weighs a lighter 457lbs. ]

I don't think they are right. The LS1tech guys usually know there stuff.
TOTAL, COMPLETE, FULLY DRESSED, FULLY OILED, crate ls1 from GM is 458#s
This is with manifolds, and a clutch.
Clutch tips the scales @ 49#s, and the cast iron manifolds are 13 each. Subtract this from the motor, and you get 383#s, with oil, intake, coil packs, Water pump, pan, filter, TB, you name it, sans manifolds and clutch. Not bad!
BTW, a complete head with valves and springs is 24#s. FYI
383 is on 28lbs more - Cool.

Most TVR driver know that the 5.0 on average makes 275 at the flywheel and 290 - 300ft/lbs. It will be going in the scale pre and post engine swap.
Cerbs are around 1150 real and chim less than 1100 but maybe not the 1060 that is in the book.
Either way will have 130 - 140bhp more than std.
More than any Cerbera's (even RR's)

I can't believe that TVR make such false claims - certainly not very honest... How do they get away with that?

These should do the trick. 300mm Tuscan Calipers.
