Will the brake fluid in my car (2001 C5) be ok for a Trackday (2 weeks away. I presume that it is whatever they put in when it was new? The last thing i want is to boil it

I did 3 track days on the standard braking system on mine an no problems, though I do have the thinner-spoked forged wheels. If you have the older "wagon wheels" with the thicker spokes you might get less ventilation and more heat build-up.

thanks fella, I have the newer thinspoked wheels so ventilation should be good. Did you have the standard pads in? As i've got EBC Red Ceramic in mine.

I did Silverstone a couple of years back using some DOT 5 fluid - it was in an '86 Coupe (auto too) on stock (scary!) brakes - no problem with brake fade, although pedal did firm up.

At the time I did the track days I had the standard pads in but upgraded to EBC red stuff afterwards.

The most important thing with the brakes on a track day is to let them cool down thoroughly after each run. When you return to the pit/paddock make sure you come to a roll stop rather than a brake stop when you park. Switch off the engine and leave the car in gear. It'll take about half an hour for the brakes to cool.

After TOTB2 I left the car for only 10 minutes before we left for home, had to hold the car on the brakes for a few seconds at a junction and promptly warped the discs !

Good advice, quite happy that things will go smoothly.
I'll get to see how good these Red Ceramic things really are

Just for reference its at Donington on Feb 13th if anyones interested... Bit worried about the noise issue to be honest.
