The good news is all euro spec vettes get the Z51 as standard spec So whos off to Park lane with there cheque book then?
I wonder how long it is till they drop the list price to around 40k.The only good thing is the great Backup Warranty with GMyou will get your choice of Manchester or Park lane at least last time they sold the Vette you had the choice of 10 dealers all rubbish! apart from one!
Think I will wait for the price to drop a bit first.

As a more financially canny Vetter, I am waiting for the prices of C5s to drop more as C6s start to appear.

In the meantime the hot tip for the not too distant future are early C3s up to 1972 as C2s have run their course...C3s are due for a rise. A c3 big block beckons.

Mick - you've missed the boat. The 10 dealers mentioned are no longer GM franchised - they didn't renew their contracts at the end of 2003. For the C5, the only choice you have really is BM and the good news is that they will transport you car free of charge for warranty work (mine is off tommorrow). If you can persuade one of the old North American dealers to do any warranty work, they will need to clear it through BM first in order to be reimbursed. The only question is whether you are willing to let just anyone work on your car. As regards servicing you can use any GM/Vauxhall dealer but they would need to get the service schedule (once again from BM).
Health warning: I may be wrong but that is how I see it.

Hi Richard why has your car got to go to BM, I knew all about the dealers because I had to wait for Cadillac to take over from Opel before I could order my 04 but I was just finding out who that one good dealer usa888 was talking about, I wonder if you are having your recall work done, I have not yet had any letters about my recall I am lucky I only need the lock recall not the washer problem for 04’s.

It was going up for steering lock recall (I didn't get a letter either). Also important warranty work being to fix the wind noise on driver's window and fix the driver's seat which broke. Oh, and the less important matter of the leaking diff gremlin. However we have deferred it until next week due the bad weather and the fact that the M6 was closed today - something about a C5 falling off a transporter..........

First thanks to 888usa I got the email about the dealer, Richard do you think it wise to joke when that is the way your Vette has to go, are you having the lock done because of the other work need or did you want to get it done any way, thanks Mick.

Don't wait too long. The Z06 has probably hit it's low point and is on the rise as people realise the C5 Z06 is still king of the hill on the track and there is an increasingly vocal disappointment not only at the C6 styling but also the lack of any real distinction in the C6 Z06 styling and it seems it won't be cheap. In other words, the C5 Z06 will remain the performance bargain of the century, the C6 will be offered as a 400bhp "replacement" and I can see the Z06 pushing upmarket.

Given that you can import some very babied 02-03 Z06's with paltry mileages on for around £25k on the road in the UK, the C6 looks not only expensive but will also be outperformed by the C5 Z06, not least because of the way GM have controlled the LS2's computer characteristics. Once the dust has settled, you'll probably find C5 prices going up rather than down.

Disagree on the C5 price thing Lusifer, certainly over the next couple of years as most american vette owners will move to the C6 and therefore there will be a lot of C5's on the market which will obviously cause prices to drop.
It will be interesting to see how the Z06 does over the next couple of years, but unlike the ZR1 there were a lot of Z06's built and therefore I would expect the prices to fall, but maybe not as much as the standard C5.
I agree that GM have locked up the LS2's computer tighter that a ducks @rsehole, so I don't think it will be as easy to modify as the C5 and that was not easy.
