Reset code for a '92 C4
Discussion
Afternoon
Following-on from my last posting, I am still considering the '92 C4 advertised on e-bay (provided that the price is right and I like it!). Someone has kindly had a look at the vehicle and aside from a few cosmetic details (the wheel arch extensions, single-slot stereo with blanking plate & v slight bubbling of paintwork in front of the roof) it looks in good condition. However, the windscreen washers needed to be fixed for the MOT and this involved removing the steering wheel (!). Once replaced, the ASR (or possibly airbag) light came on and stayed on. It has been suggested that this will probably be remedied by clearing the fault code. Does anyone know what the procedure for doing this on a '92 C4 is?? Also, are there any dangers in doing so as I wouldn't want to try something, find it makes things worse and be liable for any damages when the car isn't even mine!
Thanks in advance
Bill

Hi Bill, If the light you are on about is in the central 'Driver Information Centre', there are 3 lights there that it could be. One comes on when your wheels start to spin to tell you that the ASR (acceleration slip regulation) is working and goes off again when you regain traction (ASR ACTIVE). One comes on when a switch located just above the light switch is pressed to tell you that you have disabled the ASR system (ASR OFF)to reset this, just push the switch again to enable the ASR. One illuminates to tell you of a possible fault in the ASR system (SERVICE ASR) If the ASR light comes on with the ABS light, this is telling you that your brake fluid reservoir may be low on fluid.
I dont know how to reset the fault codes, but if anyone does, it will be Keith Beschi. You can contact him by phone on 01438 223354 or e-mail at enq@eurovettes.com Hope this helps. Colin
