Cliff,

I changed over to Redline's gearbox oil (can't remember the name of it - but you'll find it easy enough).

Works nicely, does seem to take a little bit to "warm up", but has improved the shift responsiveness and general feel. Whether though that is down to it just being "new" oil instead of the stuff that had probably been in there for the previous few years, I don't know...

If only although I'd never drive a merc!

Where the "c8koh" comes from I have no idea, although my c4koh is for C4 King Of [the] Hill...

Castrol RS 10w60 is what I use and I think is what BMW puts in the m5

I have the fully synthetic Redline ATF in my MN6 gearbox. I tried the Redline manual gearbox oil but it made the gearbox too obstructive at changing gears until it was really warmed through (over 30 miles) - they're right when they say it is for severe duty/racing use only.

The correct oil for the ZF is plane old multigrade engine oil - thats right engine oil - most use the BMW M5 oil thats Fully Synthetic and available from BMW dealers. I use Castrol Magnetec and change it yearly. Not much point going fully synthetic if you intend changing it regular.
