This was posted on the AACINT forum ( www.AACINT.com ) by the guys at Classic American Magazine - I am sure that it applies to Corvettes so I have copied for all to see...

Calling All Chevys

As if owning a Chevrolet wasn't reward enough in itself, how would you like to attend a Chevrolet-only gathering with a difference? The difference is that this show is free to enter, and there is entertainment laid on in the form of top-level international motor racing at an internationally-renowned venue! Now you can't say fairer than that.

The newly-formed Chevrolet UK has entered its Lacetti sedan in the equally newly-formed World Touring Car Championships (WTCC), a global version of the national series that have been so popular all over Europe. The only UK stop on the WTCC world tour is at Silverstone on May 15th, and Chevrolet UK would like to invite 100 American Chevrolets along as its guests at the event. They are putting up 100 pairs of tickets to the event, which includes grandstand seating, a trackside display area for parking, and, if possible, will arrange for all 100 Chevrolets to take part in a parade lap or two around the race circuit at lunchtime (Note - This means 'Parade Lap', not 'Gumball Rally'!).

And as if that weren't enough, on the same bill on the same day you'll find the only UK round of the FIA GT Championships, where American stars such as Corvette C5-Rs, Mosler MT900Rs and Saleen S7s will hopefully be kicking their Stuttgart and Maranello-based rivals up and down the start/finish straight. And it's all there for you to watch for free, if you can drag yourself away from the 99 other Chevrolets on display.

So if you fancy a cruise out in your bow-tie, with free entry to the UK's only round of WTCC and FIA GT, plus a chance to show the great British motor sport fan that Chevrolet in Britain means more than a range of budget-priced superminis and family hatchbacks, all you have to do is the following.

1. Own a Chevrolet and be willing to drive it along on the day. It doesn't matter what model, what year, whether it's a car, truck, van or custom, as long as it's a Chevrolet.

Send one decent photo of your car with your name and address to Classic American Chevy Bonanza, Optimum House, Clippers Quay, Salford Quays, Manchester M50 3XP. Enclose a SAE if you want your photo returning.

2. Alternatively, you can e-mail a photograph along with your name and address to email@classic-american.com with 'Chevy Bonanza' in the subject line. No massive files, please!

3. Be quick! The closing date for entries is noon on Tuesday, May 3rd. Winners will have their tickets posted out to them that evening.

Do note that each winner will get two free adult entry tickets. Children under 15 get in free, but any other adults in your car will have to pay the standard Silverstone gate rate of £30. Also, you'll be parading on the International circuit, where some of the world's top drivers will be competing later that day, so no oil leaks! Incidentally, did you know that Chevrolet is still the second most successful motor manufacturer in UK motor sport? So let's get a good Chevy showing at this event, and maybe we can start up a sort of Bowtie Tifosi!

My only concern here is people with their real Chevys - Corvettes, Camaros etc. - will be on the same platform as Daewoos!!

Sorry to be snobby about my Chevrolet, but a Daewoo isn't a Chevvy despite its badge.

Perhaps if they restriced the entry to V-engines only we'd get the right sorts in...

Well it is limited to 100 so if everyone gets applying should get a good number of vets. Dont worry about Daewooooooosssssssss owners they would not spend the money on gas to get to Silverstone even if entry is free.(And they would be to tired from delivering Pizzas from night before).

Panic over I won't have to get my clutch fixed Friday evening!

Spoke to Dave Smith at Classic American and the "Promotional Laps" are nothing to do with the Parade laps.

Parade will be some time after the FIA race and before the first WTCC race i.e. between 13:15 and 14:10 on the Sunday.
Also the tickets are valid for Saturday (and I assume Friday) as well

Tickets have been sent out today !!

Just got this mail! - I'll try to make it for 9am!

----------
Dear Chevy owner,

All tickets etc have now been sent out. However, please note: Within the last hour, I have been informed that the FIA (who are organising this race meeting) have told Chevrolet UK that our parade laps will take place at 9am or not at all! That's NINE O'CLOCK IN THE MORNING on Sunday 15th. I appreciate that some may not be able to make it that early, and I apologise for this, however there is nothing either Classic American or Chevrolet UK can do about this. If you can't make it for 9am that's fine, we'd still love it if you could bring and display your Chevys, but if you can make it, all the better!

Also, please note - Eurosport satellite channel will be broadcasting the racing from this event, and will apparently be showing the Chevy parade ... so set your videos!

Sorry for the inconvenience - see you there!

Dave

On a Sunday 10am is early but to be ready to go for 9am is unlikely. Should be there for 10am though.
