Body kits - Possible removal
Discussion
Afternoon
Having been searching around for a while now I have come across a 6-speed manual '92 LT1 C4 in my price range and not far from where I live! I've just been over to have a look at it and it seems to be in pretty good condition with no warnings (lights come on and go off again), no nasty noises that I noticed, good bodywork and no signs of damage (apart from a scratch in the roof).
Being a fussy sort, the only thing that is putting me off at the minute is the body kit (and maybe the colour - white). Although it certainly looks very striking and it did grow on me when I saw it, I do prefer the original lines of the C4 rather than the add-on sills, nose and spoiler. The kit itself is a Greenwood one which I believe is a decent kit so it doesn't look hacked-around. Does anyone have any opinions as to whether the presence of these kits traditionally adversely affects the value?
Also, does anyone have any experience of removing these kits? Do you need to remove all of the body panels? Is this a big job??? The amount of filling and touching-up will depend upon how it was fastened on.
I'll try to attach a photo if I can find out how!
Thanks for any thoughts in advance
Kind regards
Bill

Without posting endless blank messages trying to point to a photo, here is the e-bay link for the vehicle:

I'm not sure but I think the Greenwood wings may mount through the rear panel onto part of the chassis. Doubt this makes it that much harder to remove but would obviously leave more hole to fill!
Don't think a Greenwood kit would affect value too much. It'll be down to personal preference. At least Greenwood is a premium make.

I think if you research it, the Greenwood kit was fairly expensive. Whilst it's very 80's, I wouldn't take it off as it is a recognised specialist modification and that may increase it's value in the long run. Certainly, removing it will leave you with a devalued car with scars all over it.
Here's a thread about the Greenwood kit.
