Hopefully everyone else has had a weekend filled with Vette excitement, apart from managing to at last fire up my car on Friday with its new engine, the following 'Road Hooligans' must be thanked for their impromptu Corvette blast on Saturday by myself and Krystyna:

'Captain Cautious' - Richard R...

'Bental' 'Gosh stock brakes are rubbish!'

Malcolm 'I don't do Boost' Callaway man (for sale - two turbos - not used...)

Kerensa 'Turn it up a bit and make the sub work'

Two ZR1's and a Callaway were a pretty fun turnout!

And double thanks for the fry up this morning.

Brett's promised to get some pics/video onto his site - www.corvetteclips.co.uk

Have a good weekend all!

Glad you enjoyed it Fran, it was a great crack and it was nice to meet everyone.

I enjoyed the ride in Malc's Callaway (don't sell it, you'll regret it) and I'm still shaking from my ride with 'Mental Bental'. We must do that again some time.

Looking forward to BG,

Cap'n Cautious

Spent a couple of hours this morning changing the rear brake shoes on Patrick (Patrick Sierra (Vierra)).

Tomorrow I will try to get the clutch master cylinder out of the car without having to remove the turbo on the drivers side of the engine. It could be a long day.......(and also involve a lot of swearing)

Great work, again, Brett.
Liked the conspiratorial snigger at the end of the tunnel.

Yeah, it was a good day. Trouble is after driving Richards Z with a Corsa, I'm kind of thinking of getting one as well. I wouldn't get rid of the B&B because I like that as well. Its amazing how much different an exhaust can sound. Both cars have no cats and are running Jeal headers.

Yeah, Richard said as much. We'll get together after we get back to the states. I'm sure some more of these get togethers are on the cards after the fun we had this weekend.

We need a 'Don't sell the Callaway' campaign for Malc. Anyway - Malc - don't do it!

Nige - I have noticed that GM are particularly good at designing difficult to access parts on the C4, so guess a C5 with even more bits added is guaranteed to be harder than doing a rubiks cube in the dark with no fingers. Might I suggest it's probably easier to access the master cylinder by leaving the turbo in place, remove the windscreen wiper motor and the engine. ...

Sunday good too, took my Mum's 87 convertible out, definitely had the weather for it!

Brental - nice one with the pics and vids. We need more pre gathering gatherings like this!!

PS Kimbolton car show is the 17th July - anyone up for a strong Vette showing?

Yeah, I agree with that. How about a post gathering gathering???? If all goes well, Cliff might even make that one.

Maybe we should start a 'don't sell the Callaway' petition for Malc

Nice work, Brett - looks like much fun was had by all. Good to see that Malc is still around, although looking at the vid, he seems to have developed colour blindness (the top light on the traffic light is the RED one, Malc).

I should be at the Kimbolton show as I am also a member of The Sporting Bears Motoring Club and this is one of their main charity fund raising events.

Managed to get the old master cylinder out, but the connector that attaches it to the clutch actuator is another matter....it says in the Service Manual "pull lightly on the master cylinder to separate" lightly my arse, you'd need the strength of an elephant to get the bastards apart. I know they are not welded together as the Master Cylinder end rotates in the actuator end, but I'm buggered if I can get them apart.
So reverting to plan B.....cut them off and use some Aeroquip hose and connectors to replace. This will also give me the added advantage of being able to let in a longer piece of hoses and therefore route it away from the turbo

Yep, truly so although I'm not familiar with the sound of the B & B.
Previously I had the Flowmasters, although they are supposedly one of the most free flowing types they gave up a horrendous drone of resonance, they had to go. Plus I didn't particularly find the sound "interesting".
I'd heard the Corsa's at one of my BG visits and with all the talk on the ZR1 Net I just had to get them.
End result: ZERO resonance at any revs!!!
The other thing I like about the Corsa's is you can be almost stealthy sound-wise with judicious use of the go pedal but at WOT... Hot damn!!!

ETA: I know others have had resonance issues with the same exhaust on different Z's yet not on others. The resonance differs almost on a vehicle by vehicle basis.
