I am replacing the clutch master cylinder and have a question..... The master cylinder connects to the "slave" known as the actuator via a baronet fitting. If I remove this fitting and have a correct bore piece of aeroquip hose instead, will the pedal pressure change and also will the clutch still work? Any advice gratefully received....

Nige, I can't see why it wouldn't work, if you use high pressure stainless braided hose of a similar bore size. What's the problem with using the original pipework out of curiosity?

The quick release fitting has normal -4 type hose attached. You can join this to aeroquip -4 hose and retain the quick release fitting.

I just did this when I was fitting it to my car. I used the std slave and quick release, but joined the hose and lengthened to reach my girling master cylinder.

Original pipe work has a quick releas fitting (which BTW I cannot get apart ) but this fitting has a plastic sleeve inside the fitting and this melted causing clutch fluid to leak out and squirt onto the drivers side turbo. Clouds of white smoke made it look like the new pope had been decided.......

You slide the plastic sleeve forward to engage the quick release mechanism. If it has melted, your in a bit of bother.
It should be easy to remove with the sleeve in place, even with a couple of screwdrivers.

Not really sure what you are going to do with it not in place. The actual seal within is just a simple o ring, so surprised it is leaking.

Thanks for your help guys

Everything is okay apart from a slight leak from one of the new connectors so I have ordered a new one and will fit this on Saturday. The new master cylinder is in and all of the rest of the stuff is back in the engine bay

Fingers X'd for Sunday.
