You've all probably seen the ads on TV by now - uno the blue tub thingy made by Flash that you attach to ya hose. I noticed the kid next door using one last week and asked if it worked and he thought it did - and that was on a black car as well.

Well I picked one up yesterday for £20 and gave it a go. It does work!!! I washed the car and didn't blade or leather it off as I would usually do. The water here is so bad it would have dried white but using the Flash stuff I have a dry spot free car despite not quickly drying it by hand.

My son bought one the other day and he also said that it done a good job leaving no water marks. The only down side is that the cartridge that purifies the water has to be replaced every 3 washes.

I'm sure it said somewhere that the one in the starter kit only lasts 3 washes, the ones you buy last 10, though I don't know how much they are.

A Valet I know rates them as better than most stuff available to Joe Public, you've just got to ignore the TV adverts!

Acting on Gixer's recommendation (and boy will he pay if this goes tits up) I bought a kit today from Halfords for £19.99 which includes shampoo and the filter (good for three washes only). Bought another 600ml of shampoo and filters (for 10 more uses) for £8.98. The shampoo looks suspiciously like washing up liquid so it had better not strip off my layers of Meguiars.

I would have given you a detailed report but we've got builders in and today they unloaded their bricks and sand on my drive so I can't get the Vette out of the garage! Tomorrow they will be politely instructed to remove them to somewhere more convenient (like in the road).

Shouldn't be too bad - most of the trip it was on the back of a transporter, wasn't it???

Saucer of milk for or South Coast Rep......

It only came back from Antwerp on the flatbed!

It is absolutely covered in insect life from southern Germany. The front of the car looks like the blood splatter from a horror movie.

No problem louis will clean the car for you, but I will have to drive the car from your place to mine and louis (the car breaker) will have to drive it back.

P.S you will have to pay for the petrol.

I washed the Vette this afternoon with Flash and I am impressed. The car dried without any water marks exactly as they said it would. For what worth, points to note are:-
1. The sponge finished up a lot dirtier than normal. This could be a good sign that more grime etc is being removed.
2. Trying to shampoo a car from a large contraption with a hose attached to it requires more co-ordination than I have and several times I got caught up in the hose or clouted the car with the dispenser. I half filled a bucket with the shampoo solution instead - sorted.
3. Had to concentrate on which end the solutions came out of. A quick dowsing with shampoo (face and head) soon taught me a lesson but don't worry - if you wash it off with the filtered water your face and hair dry without any water marks.
