Bellhousing/gearbox torque settings for a SBC?
Discussion
Hi
anyone know what the torque settings should be for the bellhousing to block bolts on a small block chevy? If it makes a difference the block is an old 4-bolt mains iron block of 70's vintage (ex corvette I believe, which is why I'm posting here); bellhousing is a lakewood scatter shield.
Torque chart I have says 25ft/lb, but this sounds really low for what are some fairly beefy bolts.
Also, I've no settings for the 4 gearbox to bellhousing bolts.
Thanks
WB

Yes 25lbft seems a bit low... I'd reckon biting point to be around 10lbft, so this is probably just a bit past that; do they recommend threadlocking compound to go with it as well though??
As it's an iron block, I can't see why that's set so low [obviously an aluminium/alloy block would be more delicate to this type of thing]...
