Vette Just Serviced
Discussion
Just spent the whole day at BM yesterday got them to do quite alot in 4 hours (for 760 quid later).. Namely:
- Usual Oil Change,
- Brakes, Disks, and Calipers - now a lovely Red thanks vetteheadracer - they look so much better. The guy was so dubious about them, but I assured them they were ok - so they are bedding in now.
- Replaced a rear tyre (punctured)
- New Air Filter
- Tightened the handbrake - but its still crap - they said any tighter and it needs to have a new rachet system.
- Drivers seat - cant stop the all so slight rocking without a new frame - so that wont happen me feels.
- Updated all the software on the car to the latest version (latest version end May '05)
But the bugger is this. I have a Active Handling Fault on all the time - C1288 and C1287 - they say the steering positioner is not transmitting at all to the computer, so they are ordering a new one at £60+VAT. So it needs to go up again to be replaced - but and here is the but - they say that it may not correct it as there is a chance that there is something lower down - Namely that he sees the steering rack has quite a large play in it and this is a concern. Got me concerned all right! :weeping:
Anyone know who can take a look for a second opinion?

I'm getting this guy www.astoria-motor.co.uk/ to see if he can officially import a C6Z06 with a GM warranty. Whilst they presently really only deal with trucks & SUV's they are an officail North American GM dealer and have the correct scan tools etc for Vortec, LS1, LS2 (as fitted in the SSR) and probably many more...
I have made the mistake of one warranty trip to BM once - NEVER AGAIN !
Astoria Are co-located with Linden Special Vehicles (of 320 extra BHP from your LS1 fame
and the recent world record breaking 0-100-0 LS1 powered Ultima) They have just had a dyno delivered (I thinks it does in excess of a 1000bhp & 4wheel drive)
These guys know what they are doing. I just think they need to be coerced into dealing with GM/Chevy cars more (and I dont mean the Matiz
)

He told me the cars will be "less than £60,000" but he doesn't know the exact price yet......

Please, stop posting! It's not good for me!
Blue Devil... MMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmm....
Wonder how much it would cost to stick a s'charger onto a Z06...got to be able to get 600 bhp out of it reliably and easily?
Although 500 would probably be enough to get started...
American Dreams have a supercharged 2003 C5 Z06 for £33k which apparently has coilovers and about 535bhp.
gsmcoverage,
You might like to look at this for the rocking seat problem. It's a good write up with pics:

Spoke to their sales rep Lee Buick (yup, is his name)at Olympia last weekend. They now have THREE 2K deposists (unfortunatley the third isn't mine) Again no firm price or quantity being shipped as it appears they will be made to order. Personally, the specs of the Z06 out-weigh any apprehention I have on looks...
