Is there anywhere where you got that from??

I'd be interested to read more about it...

I was hoping for maybe a bit better than 7.40 considering the Carrera GT, perhaps 7.35 or so, but still... 7.40 isn't bad...

Anything under 8 minutes is bloody fast ! Last year the Radical sports car people were rather proud to get their track day special around the ring in slightly less than that. In 1957 Fangio with the best F1 technology of the time set a new lap record at the German Grand Prix of 9 minutes and 17.4 seconds at an average 91.54 MPH. The fastest lap in 1967 was 8 minutes and 15 seconds, that dropped to 7 minutes 43.8 seconds in 1969 in the era of the three litre F1 cars with proper wings. In 1976 (when Niki Lauda had his infamous crash) the fastest lap was 7 minutes 10.8 seconds at an average of 118.57 MPH

So it means that you will shortly be able to go out and buy a street legal car capable of mixing it with those Formula One heroes of your boyhood !

The fastest EVER lap of the Nordschleife was in 198 by Stefan Bellof in a Group C Porsche 956 with an average speed of 202kmh he did the 20.832 kilometers in 6 minutes and 11 seconds.....

Nikki Lauda's 1975 Ferrari F1 car did it 6 minutes 58 seconds when the circuit was slightly different at a length of 22.835 kilometers.

To put 7 minutes 40 secs into perspective in 2002 a Pagani Zonda S managed 7:44 and in 2003 a Porsche Carrera GT managed 7:40 over the shorter distance of 20.6 kilometers.

I don't know what the current length of the circuit is or whether it was a standard C6 Z06 or the alleged "Blue Devil" 600BHP Supercharged lightweight C6 Z06.

Well it would not have been a std one on those times.

Pity Bellof did not stick around to give Senna a better run but he was always looking like doing a James Dean.....

It was Jan Magnusson driving the Blue Devil turning 7:40s laps. The Blue Devil has been said to made 750bhp by GMs engineers in the USA. Ear-witnesses confirmed that the car sounded like it had a supercharger as it lapped the 'Ring. Considering the C6 weighs in at about 2900lbs, and is much narrower than the Porsche Carrera GT, this lap time shows just how well the C6 handles.

Current road car lap record on the Nurburgring Nordschleife is held by a Donkervoort D8 270RS @ 7m 18.01s, which just beat the Radical SR3 Turbo, which lapped in 7m19s.

The Blue Devil will most likely go on sale next year, at around $100k.

I bought the pictures and they'll be in a forthcoming issue of American Car World.

Just 'cos the pics of the car are of a "blue" one doesn't make it a devil! Looked just like a blue C6 Z06 to me, apart from the wheels.

Quite agree Lusifer, but the point is 'cos the car is blue the stupid press have gone "Blue Devil" when quite clearly it is a C6 Z06.

Mine is a Blue Devil as well then. It's a matter of logic. Anyway, this reminds me of all the speculation prior to the C6 launch. I'm happy to wait and see the road test.
Do you have a road test? Of a blue C6 Z06 wearing Supercar tyres.

Margaret.......Margaret

No, we don't have the Blue C6 Z06 wearing supercar tyres, but we do have the C6 Convertible vs the Maserati spider, will that do?

No.
