The vette's gone to heaven. Wiped it out this evening on a very greasy country road. Totaled the front (whole engine bay has bee pushed up. Fiberglass cracked on most panels. All the glass and cabin is intact - doors still open/close. Electrics all fine. But i think its a write off.
Fortunately its built so well that i am fine, bit shocked - walked away - thank god.
If i can get some pics i'll post them...

As long as you are OK Mark thats the main thing, sorry to hear about the car mate but at the end of the day they can always be fixed or replaced.
Ive been real careful when i take mine out even just leaving it on half power, these roads are holding a lot of water that freezes at a moments notice and even driving my diesel Cab around town i can feel it slide on certain areas, especially in the early hours....dodgey.
Hope things arent as bad as first thought.

Not that it helps, at least you're OK (as everybody has said). I'd be gutted if I'd done that to mine
Like Cliff said, the roads are bad. Due to the Ministry of Transport taking exception to the condition of my Ford, I'm having to use one of my bikes for day to day transport. On 2 wheels it's very obvious how bad the roads are, shaded bends can still be icy at 3pm, backroads can be icy, covered in wet leaves (just as slippery) or soaked in diesel from some old cab
I'll be doing 30mph (in a 30mph limit) & can feel the bike being really skittish on the slippery surface, but people still come blasting past under full throttle. In the past week I've seen 2 cars laying wrecked by the roadside (one in a ditch, one wrapped around a tree). Take it easy.

The road was very bad, even the old bill said it was a bad stretch. Just a bit heavy on the throttle and bang, hit the verge, spin and before you know it you are in the ditch. Using MCE at the moment for the insurance. Called them and the underwriter is Ensign. Waiting for a call back.
Yep Steve, still had the Goodyear EMT's too.
Just consoling my self now by looking at these www.wreckedexotics.com/corvette/
Thanks again guys for your messages

Spoke to the insurers and an engineer is seeing the car Monday. I'm off to have a look tomorrow where its stored.
But the insurers dont have a recommended garage to send it to if they can repair it... Any of you guys know who may be best. The only one i could think of was Bauer Millett in Manchester. Anyone nearer Reading who can do repair work if it can be done?
Also seems MCE dont give out hire cars whilst they evaluate it. Something to do with if its your fault you dont get one. Nightmare.
Comiseration for the damage, and as said by many here, better the car than you.
I found A thread on the Lotus forum highly recommending these guys in Reading. apparently Lotus/Alfa/ race prep specialist etc

Try Auto Body Language in Redhill, Surrey, tel 01737 778888, they are an approved insurance repairer (Norwich Union and others)and have worked on ours and did a good job. Check with your insurance co they may be on their list.
Glad your ok, Cars can be fixed.
Sorry to hear about the car - but as has been said, they can be replaced - you can't.
Pain though isn't it?
OK - I had a great service from MCEdwards... top notch, can not fault it one bit.
Ensign phoned me - and they sorted out me out with a local Peugeot dealer!! I telephoned the dealer personally (I think the insurance were faxing them at the same time with my details) and explained the situation (Corvette, Fibreglass, import)... they told me straightaway they wouldn't want to do it - and furthermore, they recommended only a specialist.
So I phoned Ensign or MCE (I can't remember which) and they were fine about me taking it to Bauer Millett. I paid an extra £160 for the carriage [which wasn't paid for by the insurers], but as Cliff will testify - BM did a fantastic job.

I know these insurance policies are complex and never quite the same, policy to policy, but they are usually fully comprehensive aren't they?
That said, one would generally presume a hire car provision should not depend on where the fault of the accident lay, I could be wrong on this.
Anyway, to the point of my post, contact "Anniesdad" who posts regularly here on PH, he very much specialises in this area and will at least give some advice, this is an offer he regularly makes.
Good luck which ever way it plays out.
