A silver C3, stolen when it was brand new 40 years ago has just been recovered by Police as it was about to be exported to Sweden (talk about sitting on it!). Apart from the fuel tank being removed, the car looks as good as new in the news article and has been returned to the original owner who I am sure will be laughing all the way to the bank if, as I assume, the car has never been used in that time.

Stolen from New York. They suspect it must have been stored because if anyone had tried to insure it or register it, it would have been flagged as stolen. Strange thing though: it was originally blue, but is now Silver with a Red interior and the engine has been changed at some time - who would go to those lengths to disguise it, then not use it ? Sounds more like it's been well used, then restored.
Either way, I feel happy for the guy, must be fantastic news for him - especially as it wasn't insured against theft. I hope they catch the thieves - they are actually still trying to. Imagine if it happened here - our Police tend to give up looking for stolen property just before you leave the station after reporting it, then rush out to set up a speed trap or stop bikes with small plates/noisy pipes etc. - you know: the really important crimes

Must be someone who bought two identical vettes and swapped bits between them. Where's Cliff today?

Strange but true; BBC lunchtime news covered this story. Looked a nice car.
